DAE-BRNS Basic Sciences School* on
'Condensed Matter Interface with Chemistry and Biology'

Venue: Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai
PURPOSE
The aim of this School is to equip young solid state physicists (mostly
Ph. D. students and postdocs from educational and research
institutions in India) with sufficient knowledge of topics in Chemistry
and Biology that interface with the soft matter aspects. The lectures
will be delivered by well-known experts from India and abroad, who
have several years of experience in their respective fields.
TOPICS
Self-assembly, functional materials, surfactants, conducting polymers,
colloids, molecular/organic electronics, organic/plastic LEDs and
photovoltaics, bio-inspired physics and engineering, MNP-based
applications including drug delivery/human health, bio-sensors,
bio-MEMS and biomedical devices, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, etc.

ELIGIBILITY
Young condensed matter physicists with at least 2 years research
experience and preferably having Chemistry as a subject during
Bachelor's degree. Number of outstation participants will be limited to
about 35.
How to Apply
The participation in this school is absolutely free for Ph D
students/postdocs who do not have permanent positions. They will also
be reimbursed sleeper class train fare and provided with free meals
and accommodation in hostels. DAE employees (HBNI students) intending
to attend will pay Registration fee of Rs. 1500.
Application along with CV, half a page write-up on why the candidate
wants to attend this interdisciplinary School, and a recommendation
letter from the Head of the Institution of the applicant should be
