                "Renormalization group for classical disordered elastic
systems:
                                shocks, avalanches and field theory"

        Kivonat: I will review recent progress in describing classical
elastic objects pinned by
        quenched disorder using renormalisation group methods (RG). It
applies to interfaces
        in random media, vortex lattices, etc.. The field theory is unusual:
it develops singularities
        (shocks) related to switches from metastable states. Furthermore one
needs functional RG,
        as a full function R(u) of the field is relevant. I will describe
how this function has been
        measured in numerics and compared to predictions, and show its
physical content in terms
        of shocks and avalanches.
