„DESCRIBING SYSTEMS" COMPETITIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN SYSTEMS THEORY

Complex systems, open systems, systems thinking ... and many other
notions from diverse scientific fields are related to the notion of
systems. For many purposes it is useful or even unavoidable to study
thoroughly these notions. However, the regular education does not
include corresponding topics well enough.

The presentation will describe the project of national-level
high-school competitions in elements of systems theory "Describing
Systems", which was conducted in Croatia for the first time in the
academic year 2006/07. The project was motivated by the observed
need for larger inclusion of the systems science in the regular
education. In the presentation, facts about starting the project and
projections for its future will be given.
