Dear Colleagues,

below please find a re-posted message originally published in MIX on 30 August 2015. Unfortunately, during the first period of the test regime of the new MEDC Directory some system instabilities were experienced that resulted in the fact that numerous users who started registering, never received the validation e-mail.

These problems seem now to have been solved and, therefore, we invite again all Mössbauer spectroscopists and colleagues interested in or related to the applications of the Mössbauer Effect to join the new MEDC Directory.

Those who have already registered but not yet completed their personal profile are encouraged to do so at their earliest convenience.

We are aware of the fact that our system may still have some bugs and therefore, we keep it in test regime. Should you experience any problems which you cannot solve on the basis of the user guide at

http://www.medc.dicp.ac.cn/directory/MEDC_New_Directory_User_Guide.pdf

please do not hesitate to contact us at

medc AT dicp.ac.cn
and
nagy-medc AT mail.kfki.hu

We will do our best to reply as soon as possible.

Enjoy our service for the international Mossbauer community and share the idea of joining it with your colleagues.

----------------- Original message from 30 August 2015 -----------------

Dear Colleagues,

the Mossbauer Effect Data Center (MEDC), in co-operation with IBAME, the International Board on the Applications of the Mossbauer Effect and the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences proudly announces the public test regime of the new MEDC Directory, a further key element of the emerging Mossbauer Effect Knowledge Center.

In contrast to the old MEDC Directory, the new one is based on the active participation of Mossbauer spectroscopists who will take care of entering and maintaining their data including also direct links to their pages at bibliographic databases, scientific search engines, scientific social networks like Scopus, Google Scholar and ResearchGate by themselves. Thereby the new MEDC Directory may prove to be the seed of a future international association of Mossbauer spectroscopists. Moreover, the new MEDC Directory is directly linked to MIX so that new members joining the directory may request on registration to become subscriber to MIX.

The new MEDC Directory can be found at the MEDC webpage

http://medc.dicp.ac.cn/

under "New directory (test regime)" or can be accessed directly at

http://medc.dicp.ac.cn/directory/

At this address a page will appear where you may search for data of Mossbauer spectroscopists. Of course, at the beginning you will find only a few records but we are confident that the number of entries in the new directory will increase to several hundreds soon.

Please join the new MEDC Directory; entering your basic information will not take more than five minutes. Before entering your data, you will have to register which is possible at the right-hand side of the page. Having started registration, you will receive an automatic reply from the MEDC server containing an active link that will guide you to a page where your data can be entered. Having saved your entry, the MEDC staff will be notified. They will check your data and will publish them in the directory, as a rule, within a few days time.

Being in the test phase of this new service, you will be certainly faced with several problems or you may have ideas how to make the new directory more useful and comfortable. In such cases please do not hesitate to share your point with us. You may use MIX for this purpose by simply replying this mail (this will be received by all subscribers of MIX). Alternatively, you may wish to send a mail to the MEDC staff at

medc AT dicp.ac.cn

Enjoy our new service for the international Mossbauer community and share the idea of joining it with your colleagues.

With best regards,

Tao Zhang, Director, MEDC
