Open PhD / PostDoc position - photocatalytical materials and Mössbauer
spectroscopy


The Group of Materials for Electrical Engineering and Electronics in the
Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU
Ilmenau, Germany, seeks a highly motivated PhD student or PostDoc to start as
soon as possible in the area of Mössbauer spectroscopy and photocatalytical
materials. The position is embedded within the Institute of Materials Science
and Engineering and the Institute of Micro- and Nanotechnology MacroNano®.



The position is based on a 3-year research project "Development of an
online/offline Mössbauer system for investigation of photocatalytical
materials", which is funded by BMBF. Based at TU Ilmenau, the candidate has
often travel to ISOLDE (http://isolde.web.cern.ch/ ) in Geneva for
experiments. The project is a group project together with the University of
Göttingen, Germany, and University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Therefore,
also travels to these places are required.

Job Description

· Development of a mobile in-situ Mössbauer system for the
investigation of photocatalytical materials

· Set-up of the in-situ Mössbauer system, maintaining and running the
system

· Performing of experiments in Ilmenau, Göttingen and at ISOLDE

· Publication of research results in internationally recognized
scientific journals and presentation of research results at conferences

· Assisting in writing research proposals and beam time proposals for
ISOLDE

Qualifications

· M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or
related fields

· Experience in Mössbauer methodology, system set-up, electronics,
in-situ experiments

· Experience in photocatalytical materials

· Experience with radioactive isotopes

· Excellent English language skills, Knowledge of German language is
a plus

· Soft skills (self-sustained working, working in a team,
communication, enthusiasm, etc.).

Our Offer

· 3 year contract, either towards a PhD degree or further PostDoc
qualifications

· Further training and exchange opportunities.

· Competitive salary from 50% to 100% TV-L, E13 scale, depending upon
qualification.

· Collaboration with University of Göttingen and University of
Duisburg-Essen and the ISOLDE collaboration.
