Absztrakt:
Following a £250M UK government investment to create two high-energy proton
beam therapy centres in Manchester and London, a new University of Manchester
research group (PRECISE) was formed to address the challenges associated with
delivering therapeutic ion beam therapy for cancer. Dr Taylor co-led the
design, commissioning and now manages the UK's only dedicated high-energy
proton beam therapy research facility located in what would have been the
fourth treatment room at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Taylor now
leads the multi-disciplinary PRECISE research group and in this presentation,
he will give an overview of the proton beam therapy research facility in
Manchester, it’s operational challenges and how the research team are
addressing them.
