chalcogenides for infrared sensingTuesday, 1 October 2024, 10:00, KFKI
Campus, Bldg. 1, 2nd floor, Conference RoomThe sensor development for in situ
detection of organic molecules in water using an optical method is a broad
environmental challenge. Chalcogenide glasses have attracted attention for
sensing applications due to their high transparency in the infrared range,
their ability to be fabricated into thin films by PVD and to be processed
into integrated photonic components by photolithography and etching. We will
present the development of a chalcogenide-based mid-infrared platform
dedicated to mid-infrared spectroscopy using evanescent waves. The choice of
the chalcogenide glass composition, the synthesis of chalcogenide films by RF
magnetron sputtering, the structural, morphological, topographic and optical
characterization of the thin films, the patterning of the films using
photolithography and reactive ion etching, the optical losses and the surface
functionalization by a hydrophobic polymer of the chalcogenide thin films
will be presented. This study represents a step towards the development of an
optical sensor in the MIR spectral range using chalcogenide materials for the
detection of organic molecules in water. Minden érdeklődőt szívesen
