Title:
INTERFACING HUMANS AND REHABILITATION TECHNOLOGIES OUT OF BIOELECTRICAL
ACTIVITY
Abstract:
The interface between a patient and the rehabilitation technology is a
key aspect for success. When properly designed, a good interface
allows natural operation and causality, thus linking motor planing
features in EEG or EMG to the appropriate feedback delivered with
robots or neuroprosthetics. If causality is achieved, as a result,
interventions lead to neuroplasticity and embodiment. In this talk we
will address key aspects of interface technologies based on EEG and
EMG signal processing and we will illustrate how these interfaces can
be used in new therapeutic interventions and for assistive
technologies.
