Subject: ISAPP-Baikal Summer School 2018
we will soon be opening registration for the ISAPP-Baikal Summer School 2018.
Please find below the announcement of the school.
I would appreciate if you could distribute it among your colleagues who may
be interested in participating.
Thanks in advance!
we are happy to announce the ISAPP-Baikal Summer School "Exploring the Universe
through multiple messengers", which will take
place from July 12 to 21, 2018, in a picturesque village Bolshie Koty at the
shore of Lake Baikal, Russia. It will continue the
series of traditional Baikal summer schools organized jointly by JINR (Dubna)
and the Irkutsk State University. Its unique blend
of scientific discussions, friendly atmosphere, and the splendid nature of
Lake Baikal will be strengthened this year by the
participation of ISAPP, the European network of doctorate schools in
astroparticle physics, and by the financial support from
the Helmholtz Alliance for Astroparticle Physics.
The school is aimed at master and PhD students specializing in astroparticle
physics; motivated undergraduate students and
junior postdocs are also welcome. The school is fully international, its
working language is English. The lecture program will
focus on multi-messenger astronomy, cosmic ray physics, gamma-astronomy,
astrophysical neutrinos, black holes, and gravitational
waves, with a good balance between theoretical and experimental topics. The
school agenda will include intensive student
discussion sessions and an opportunity to present your own work and discuss
it with experts.
Registrations and applications can be submitted via an online application
form from March 1st to April 30th. Due to limited
facilities on-site, we can accept up to 55 applications. A competitive
selection will be made based on applicants' scientific
interests and recommendation letters from their supervisors or colleagues.
The approvals will be issued starting from the end of
More details, including the scientific program, participation fee, and
practical arrangements, can be found at

Note also that the 26th Extended European Cosmic Ray Symposium will take
place from July 6 to 10, 2018, in Barnaul, Altai
region, Russia, see https://ecrs18.asu.ru. The dates and the transportation
between Barnaul and Irkutsk will allow you to
conveniently combine the two events in the case you wish to participate in
