Surprises in Unicellular Eukaryotic Chemical Sensing and Collective
Proliferation Dynamics
Abstract:
An experimental test of an attempt to apply Shannon's information
theory to the problem of chemotaxis reveals that an amoebae can be
much more sensitive than expected in detecting a chemical gradient.
In a second topic I will report on the apparently spontaneous
synchronization of the cell division cycle in a low density population
of amoeba on a substrate: a surprising discovery of collective
dynamics in living matter.
Minden érdeklődőt várunk!
