Dynamical Systems with Time-scale Interference for
a Theory of Biological Plasticity and Robustness

Biological dynamical systems both have plasticity to adapt
novel environments and robustness to keep their internal
state. I will discuss dynamical-systems approaches to deal
with the plasticity and robustness, stressing the importance
of interference between modes with distinct time scales. The
topics will cover.
(i) Autonomous regulation of time scales by enzyme-limited
competition, leading to epigenetic memory and biological
homeostasis.
(ii) Autonomous switching of quasistationary state in
dynamical systems consisting of slow and fast variables
(iii) Self-consistent bifurcation in coupled dynamical
systems resulting in cell differentiation from a stem cell
