              Designing complex social networks 
    
Complex systems are comprised of independent agents that show a global 
behavior that depends on the egoistic decisions of every single agent. 
Designing a system of independent agents, like sensor networks, file-sharing
communities, or social networks in the internet, how can we design them to 
make local and global optima coincide? The talk will give two examples 
showing that it is indeed possible in some cases but that a very 
careful design is necessary to make it work efficiently.
