Tisztelettel meghívjuk

"Binary black holes initial data and spectral methods"
címmel tartandó szemináriumára.
Kivonat:
With the ground-based detectors currently taking data, the first direct detection of a gravitational wave may occur in a short time-scale. Also, in the recent years evolution codes for binary black holes have shown dramatic improvements. Such systems can be evolved for tens of orbits up to merger and the results are in very good agreement with post-Newtonian ones. Nevertheless there are still some work to do on the initial data part of the problem.
I will first review the 3+1 formalism of general relativity and its application to the binary black holes problem. In particular, I will discuss the way boundary conditions can be imposed on the horizons. Up to date numerical results will then be presented. Possible leads to get more precise initial data will be discussed.
The use of spectral methods to solve the initial data problem has proved to be extremely fruitful. I will briefly present the basis of the spectral approximation and discuss a new general solver that is currently being designed to get more insight on binary black holes configurations.
