        Kivonat: The idea of using hyperlink mining algorithms in Web search 
engines
        appears since the beginning of the success of Google's PageRank. 
Hyperlink
        based methods are based on the assumption that a hyperlink u -> v 
implies
        that page u votes for v as a quality page.  As an example we may 
define
        Personalized PageRank that assigns more importance to the 
neighborhood of
        pages at the users selection.  SimRank is a multi-step link-based
        similarity function has a similar recursive idea that two pages are
        similar if pointed to by similar pages.

        I will discuss the meaning of these parameters as well as the 
challenges
        behind computing them for billions of nodes.  I will  also elaborate 
on
        how "search engine optimizers" spam these measures as well as show
        strategies to filter the so-called Web spam.  We will also see 
connections
        between the hyperlink structure of the Web and social networks.
