The principle of maximal rate of entropy production: The
physical background for the normality rule
Abstract:
Derivation of the normality rule for time-dependent and
time-independent deformation was made. The normality rule is
derived by the principle of maximal rate of entropy production.
The derivation was made within the framework of thermomechanics
with internal variables. Since Ziegler did not cast his principle
into exact mathematical framework, it was done here.
