Subject: PhD-Student - Job Opportunity

Dear colleagues,

please find attached a job opportunity for a PhD-Student at the
University of Potsdam in Germany. Qualification is needed in the domain
of laser physics and non-linear optics and is directed towards material
processing.
We would appreciate if you could forward this offer to interested young
scientists/researchers and institutions in your country.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Best regards,
Claudia Labisch

The Photonics group at the University of Potsdam is looking for a
PhD-student (German doctorate) for a period of two to three years
starting immediately. There is a funded position (2/3 Bat IIa-east) within the
"DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm" "Broadening the limits in material processing with
laser radiation". The emphasis in this project in Potsdam will be tailoring
the laser radiation in its temporal and spatial properties by using special
resonator geometries containing phase conjugating mirrors based on stimulated
Brillouin scattering. This optimization process will require skills in laser
physics and non-linear optics and is directed towards material processing.
The candidate is facing a well established and well equipped group with a
broad spectrum of topics in the area of photonics/optics reaching from high
power lasers to quantum optics and spectroscopy.

Applications should be addressed to Dr. Martin Ostermeyer:
oster AT rz.uni-potsdam.de.
