Dear science colleagues

I would be grateful if you could bring this notice to the attention of your
relevant contacts.

The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) is offering up
to 12 free places for overseas students on its Particle Physics & Astronomy
International Undergraduate Summer School.

PPARC will provide:
- a low-cost, economy airfare from any country
- UK travel to Cambridge via the most economical route
- meals whilst at Cambridge
- free accommodation at St Edmunds College
- a day trip to CERN
- and Sterling 65 'pocket money' per week (total = 6week summer school x 65
= Sterling 390 per student).

The Summer School will run from June 24 - August 2, 2002. It will be hosted
by the Cavendish Laboratory, the Institute of Astronomy and the Department
of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of
Cambridge.

The course is open to students who have a background in the relevant
physical sciences, mathematics or engineering. Applicants should have
completed at least two years of an undergraduate course, but should also be
at least a year away from graduating with a first degree in an appropriate
subject.
