Dear Members of the International Mössbauer Community,

It is with deep sorrow that I wish to inform you of the passing of
Professor Michał Maciej Kopcewicz, who died on 1 September 2026 at the age
of 81.

Professor Kopcewicz devoted many years of his scientific career to
Mössbauer spectroscopy, solid-state physics, and the study of material
properties. He was associated for many years with the Institute of
Experimental Physics at the University of Warsaw and later with the
Institute of Electronic Materials Technology in Warsaw.

Throughout his long scientific career, he was an active member of the
Polish and international Mössbauer community. We would be very grateful if
you could share this sad news with colleagues who knew Professor Kopcewicz,
collaborated with him, or were among his students.

I am attaching the original funeral notice in Polish. For the benefit of
his international colleagues, an English translation is provided below.

**FUNERAL NOTICE – English translation**

On 1 September 2026, at the age of 81, passed away

**Professor Michał Maciej Kopcewicz**

The Funeral Mass will be held on **Friday, 4 September 2026, at 11:00
a.m.** at the **Church of  św. Szczepana, 1 Św. Szczepana Street, Warsaw**.

Following the Mass, the deceased will be taken to the family grave. The
burial ceremony will take place at **1:00 p.m. at the Parish Cemetery in
Wyszków, Białostocka Street**.

This sad news is announced by his deeply grieving family.
