Dear Colleagues,

it is with deep sadness to report the passing of

                 Romain Coussement
                 professor emeritus
      Nuclear and Radiation Physics Section,
          Katholieke Universiteit Leuven
        on July 9, 2012, at the age of 77.

His health kept deteriorating these last few years during which he 
suffered several strokes.

He was the founder and the head of the "Nuclear Solid State Physics" 
laboratory in the Physics and Astronomy Department of the University of 
Leuven until his retirement in 2000.
