Erről érdemes lenne a
"On June 13-4, 2012, I will accompany the West Virginia Youth Symphony
Orchestra as they visit Hungary as part of a larger 10-day European
performance tour; my daughter, Molly, is a cellist with the Orchestra. While
I will primarily be traveling as a chaperone and supporter of the WVYSO, I
hope to also develop contacts that might lead to future youth exchange
collaborations.
I am the executive director of the National Youth Science Foundation, a
non-profit organization based in Charleston, West Virginia, that develops and
operates innovative youth science education programs. The Foundation's
flagship program, the National Youth Science Camp (www.nysc.org), has hosted
279 international students from 27 countries at no cost to the student -
transportation included! An annual grant from the United States Department
of State supports 16 students from the Americas; additional students,
including some from Europe, are supported with grants provided by embassies
of the United States or private entities. In 2011, the Foundation also
hosted a delegation of education officials from Chile at the science camp.
As a result of this visit I was invited to travel to Chile this past January
to share our experiences operating non-traditional science education programs
with others in the Chilean science education community. We strongly believe
that fostering and supporting international relationships between young
scientists is particularly important to the continuing success of science
education in the United States. You can see more about what we do on our web
site (www.nysf.com); feedback about the Chilean students participation in the
2011 NYSC is available here: http://wp.me/p159Cv-bT."
