SigmaCalc 2.0,  a new version of Gurbich’s evaluated nuclear reaction
cross-section calculator

SigmaCalc is the website which makes available evaluated differential
reaction cross-sections of use to the Ion Beam Analysis community.  These
evaluations have been described in detail at the Cambridge IBA Conference
(A.F.Gurbich,  Nucl. Instrum.Methods B, 268, 2010, 1703-1710);  in Chapter 3
of the Handbook of Modern IBA (eds. Wang & Nastasi; MRS, 2010):
A.F.Gurbich, The Interaction of Charged Particles with Nuclei;  and
elsewhere.

SigmaCalc 2.0 is now hosted by the Surrey Ion Beam Centre at
www.surreyibc.ac.uk/sigmacalc and maintained by Alexander Gurbich (IPPE,
Obninsk).  It currently includes 36 evaluations for targets Z=1-56,  beams
of 1H, 2H and 4He,  and both elastic scattering and nuclear reactions.  No
evaluated photon production cross-sections are currently included but may be
soon,  along with other particle reactions of interest.  Please adjust your
links to the SigmaCalc page.

Previously,  SigmaCalc was hosted by the IAEA Nuclear Data Section,
together with IBANDL:  the database of experimental measurements of
reaction cross-sections of interest in IBA
(www-nds.iaea.org/exfor/ibandl.htm).  Following the extended closure of this
website by the IAEA,  only an historic version (SigmaCalc 1.6) is now
available at the IBANDL website,  pre-calculated at a precision of 0.1°
scattering angle.  Revised and new evaluations are not available from
IBANDL,  and Prof. Gurbich no longer maintains the old SigmaCalc data
available from the current version of IBANDL.

Prof. Gurbich has built this new facility for the IBA community during his
visit to the Surrey Ion Beam Centre as a Leverhulme Professor,  and the
support of the Leverhulme Trust (www.leverhulme.ac.uk/) is acknowledged.
