Dear Collegue,

Postdoctoral position in the Ion-Beam Physics Department of RMKI The KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics (RMKI) of the Hungarian Academic of Science does fundamental research in particle and nuclear physics from both an experimental and a theoretical perspective.

We invite application for a

Postdoctoral position
in the Ion beam physics department

focusing on the development and application of keV to MeV ion beam techniques for the characterization and modification of materials and/or the study of fundamental physical processes.

Formal requirements for this position are a PhD in experimental physics and experience with ion implantation and ion beam analysis techniques (RBS, ERDA, NRA and channeling).

The main activities of the Ion-Beam Physics Department are application of ion-beam techniques for materials science, investigation of ion-solid interaction and research in nuclear solid-state physics. The main facilities of the department are the 5-MV Van de Graaff accelerator and the 450-kV heavy-ion implanter. These accelerator facilities provide research services related to ion-beam physics in the field of biology, environmental and materials science, archeology and cultural heritage research, too. The accelerator complex is a member of Hungarian Ion-beam Physics Platform (HIPP). The department (website: http://mffo.rmki.kfki.hu/ion) has excellent access to preparation and characterization instruments of the research institutes hosted at the KFKI campus.

Salary and benefits are according to the Hungarian public service pay scale. The contract is initially limited to 3 years with the possibility of an extension. The Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics is an equal-opportunity employer.

Further information can be obtained from Endre Kótai (kotai AT rmki.kfki.hu) or Edit Szilágyi (szilagyi AT rmki.kfki.hu).

Interested applicants should address their application to:

Endre Kótai
