Kedves Kollégák!
Szeretettel várjuk az érdeklődőket Horváth Dezső Mit, miért, mivel mérünk?
Zűrzavaros mértékeink a rőftől a fényévig című könyvének bemutatójára 2026.
szeptember 15-én kedden 13 órakor (a Wigner Kollokvium előtt) a Wigner FK
1-es épületének Tanácstermében a KFKI-ban. A könyvről további részletek a

A Wigner Kollokvium keretében 2026. szeptember 15-én kedden, 14 órakor
Szapudi István (Hawaii Egyetem) tart előadást Stereographically Compactified
Simulations (StePS) for cosmology címmel ugyanott, az 1-es épület,
Tanácstermében.
Abstract:
StePS (STEreographically Projected cosmological Simulations) framework uses
a compactification technique to simulate the whole universe. At present it
is capable of four topologies: standard torus (periodic boundary
conditions), spherical (trivial), cylindrical (periodic in the z-direction),
and Poincare dodecahedron simulations. The new simulation framework is
especially useful for testing alternative models, such as the rotating
Godel-inspired universe with cylindrical topology, and for developing
observational tests for non-trivial topologies.
CV of the speaker:
István Szapudi is a physicist at the Institute for Astronomy at the
University of Hawaii. His work focuses on the statistical analysis of the
large-scale structure of the Universe, and he has played a leading role in
developing methods that extract as much cosmological information as possible
from galaxy surveys; including "counts-in-cells" statistics, the
"sufficient-statistics" power spectrum, and precision predictions of the
cosmological density distribution. He is also active in other areas,
including as an expert in N-body simulations. His scientific works on the
rotating universe, the philosophical foundations of quantum mechanics, and
space-based climate control have attracted widespread attention. He is a
coathor of the book "Spinning the Cosmic Web", published this year.
