CSFK CSI SZEMINÁRIUM / KONKOLY OBSERVATORY SEMINAR
Date: Apr 16 (Thursday) 14:00
József Vinkó and Enikő Regős (Konkoly Observatory, Hungary)
A Type Ia supernova at z=2.9: modeling JWST photometry and cosmological
implications
JWST opened a new window to study the high-redshift Universe, and switched
gears in observational cosmology. In this talk we first review what's going
on at high redshift, then present the re-analysis of two JWST supernovae
discovered by the JADES galaxy survey. One of them, SN 2023adsy, turned out
to be a particularly interesting one. It was originally thought to be an
intrinsically red, yet normal luminosity supernova, which would be very
peculiar compared to local, low-redshift SNe. We found, however, that it is
probably a normal SN Ia, but heavily reddened by the dust content within its
host galaxy. More details will be presented during the talk.
