The EU funded project THRILL organises a summer school on Applications of High Energy / High Power Lasers from 7 to 13 June 2026 in Hirschegg, Austria. Focus topics will be:

* Warm-dense matter research, magnetic field generation, dynamic
compression of materials
* Secondary sources of particles and radiation for medical
applications and high-field QED
* Inertial Fusion Energy
* Nuclear Photonics
* Laboratory Astrophysics

The school will alternate lectures and directed work in small groups.

*PhDs & early career scientists are invited to register through the event website before 31 March 2026 (extended deadline).*

If your institute is not a member of the THRILL consortium, the participation fee for the summer school is EUR 500.

*Register for the summer school >> <https://indico.gsi.de/event/20544/overview>*

/The THRILL project <https://www.thrill-project.eu> aims at providing new designs and high-performance components for high-energy high-repetition-rate lasers, enabling the technical readiness level required to specify and build the needed devices. THRILL is funded by the EU’s HORIZON EUROPE program under the grant agreement 101095207. Participating institutions, apart from GSI/FAIR, are Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility and Forschungsverbund Berlin in Germany, as well as Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and Amplitude Systems in France, the ELI ERIC, Laserlab-Europe AISBL in Belgium and the University of Rochester in the USA./
