Anna Görgei (Konkoly Observatory): Hungary Long-term monitoring of EK
Draconis--spot evolution and differential rotation
During the course of two years we monitored EK Draconis (HD 129333) from
Piszkéstető Observatory, Hungary. This is a relatively bright (7.6 apparent
magnitude), young (~50 Myr), fast rotating (rotational period is 2.606 days)
solar analog star, thus it is extensively studied both by photometric and
spectroscopic methods. Multiple Doppler-images exist of the star (the first
is from 1998, Strassmeier & Rice) with long timegaps between them. In our
campaign we reconstructed 13 Doppler images of EK Draconis. We even managed
to cover the rotational phases 3 times in a 2 week long period and we could
repeate the same again a few months later. This made observing the short-,
and long-term spot evolution and calculating the differential rotation
possible. In this talk I will summarize our work on EK Draconis and the
recently publised results.
