CSFK CSI SZEMINÁRIUM / KONKOLY OBSERVATORY SEMINAR

Date: Nov 20 (Thursday) 14:00

AI4Science team: The AI Scientist in Action -- The MIRAI Experiment on
AI-Driven Discovery

Recent advances in large language models and agentic AI systems are reshaping
the landscape of scientific research. These “AI Scientists” — autonomous,
reasoning systems capable of generating hypotheses, interpreting data, and
engaging in scientific dialogue — are emerging as new research collaborators.
The MIRAI (Multi-domain Investigation of Research AI Systems) project, led by
HUN-REN systematically evaluates cutting-edge AI Scientist architectures
across multiple scientific domains. Our goal is to understand how these
systems reason, where they fall short, and how they might augment real-world
scientific discovery. We are inviting researchers and domain experts to
participate in structured experiments with AI Scientist systems within their
own fields. Participants will collaborate directly with these systems,
provide feedback on their reasoning and usability, and contribute to shaping
the next generation of AI-augmented research tools. Join us to explore how AI
can become
a true scientific partner — and to help define what trustworthy,
transparent, and creative AI research collaboration should look like.

The seminar will be held live in the Detre hall with audience, but also
streamed online via Zoom. If you are unable to attend the presentation in
person, you can join us via this link
