"Eppur si muove" -- Metal-rich RR Lyrae and current challenges in star 
formation and evolution

Historically regarded as exclusive tracers of old stellar populations, the 
presence of metal-rich RR Lyrae stars has challenged this paradigm. According 
to the standard single-star evolutionary scenario, such objects should not 
exist, yet observations confirm their existence (eppur si muove). Recent 
spectroscopic studies have revealed the unusual nature of these stars, 
displaying atypical chemical abundance patterns in alpha and s-process 
elements. In this seminar, I will review the current state of research on 
this topic and present our new findings, which pose significant questions to 
our understanding of stellar evolution.
