Dear Foldes,
I am currently accepting PhD applicants to begin in Fall 2025 and would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with any potential candidates.
Thank you very much,
Ivan

*PhD Studentships in Exascale Simulations of Extreme Materials: Fall 2025*
Several PhD studentships are available in the group of Prof. Ivan Oleynik at the University of South Florida to conduct groundbreaking research on materials under extreme pressures and temperatures. Such conditions occur in planetary interiors, meteorite impacts, and inertial confinement fusion experiments.
This research will utilize quantum-accurate molecular dynamics simulations on exascale computers, including Frontier and Aurora. We are seeking enthusiastic candidates to work on one of the following projects:
(1)Matter in the interiors of exoplanets
(2)High-energy-density physics of inertial fusion materials
These projects are highly collaborative efforts involving experiments at premier high-power laser, free-electron laser, and synchrotron facilities in the US and Europe. Candidates will gain unique experience working within multidisciplinary teams while contributing to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments by running extreme-scale MD simulations on exascale supercomputers.
Ideal candidates should hold a BSc or MSc degree in physics, materials science, or a related field, and should have a strong interest in advanced atomic-scale simulations to solve fundamental science problems.
To apply, please send a one-page statement describing your academic and research experience, along with your curriculum vitae, to Prof. Ivan Oleynik at oleynik AT usf.edu.
PhD studentships are available starting in *Fall 2025* or later.
 Postdoctoral positions are also available.
