Helyszín: az ELI ALPS konferenciaterme (Szeged, Wolfgang Sandner
utca 3.)

Cím: Ultra-intense Ti:sapphire laser technology for high
field science
Absztrakt:
We report on our petawatt J-KARN-P laser facility based on an
OPCPA/Ti:sapphire hybrid architecture and focused intensities of 1022 W⁄cm2
on target at a 0.1 Hz repetition rate. At such extremely high intensities of
1022 W⁄cm2, to minimize pre-plasma formation on solid targets, we have
experimentally investigated the temporal contrast enhancement techniques.
Firstly, the origins of pre-pulses generated by post-pulses were identified
and the elimination of most pre-pulses by removal of the post-pulses with
wedged optics was achieved.
Secondly, we demonstrate orders of magnitude enhancement of the picosecond
pedestal contrast improving the surface quality of the convex mirror in the
Öffner stretcher.
Thirdly, we have examined the temporal contrast characteristics of a double
chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) laser, in particular the pre-pulses created
by post-pulses coming from the first CPA stage at the front-end. We develop a
cascaded femtosecond optical parametric amplifier based on the utilization of
the idler pulse rather than the signal pulse for the complete elimination of
the remaining pre-pulses and the sum-frequency mixing of the signal and idler
of the OPA.
Fourthly, a single plasma mirror is installed in the J-KAREN-P laser beamline
for further contrast improvement of three orders of magnitude. The above
developments indicate that although it has not been directly measured, the
contrast can be as high as approximately 1015 up to 40 ps before the main
pulse. We are planning to upgrade the plasma mirror, and hope to achieve a
further approximately three orders of magnitude improvement in contrast
(toward 1018) over the current single plasma mirror configuration by using a
double plasma mirror configuration.
Finally, we briefly show the introduction of some applications with the
J-KAREN-P laser and an overview of the digital transformation (DX) of the
system, enabling remote and automated operation of the J-KAREN-P laser
facility. We also present the demonstration of the highest terawatt-class
pulse with a passive coherent beam combining with Sagnac Interferometer.

Cím: Laser-plasma research activities at GIST, Korea
Absztrakt:
GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology) is a research-oriented
university in Korea, governed by the Ministry of Science and Technology. We
have a few high power laser systems of 4 PW, 150 TW and 20 TW on the campus.
They are used for diverse research purposes, including particle (electron and
proton) acceleration, generation of gamma rays and THz radiations, etc. In
this talk I shall give an overview of our research activities at GIST.
