SZFI SeminarDonkó ZoltánHUN-REN Wigner RCP SZFIHow to compute the spectrally
resolved light emission from low-temperature plasmas?Tuesday, 8 April 2025,
10:00, KFKI Campus, Bldg. 1, 2nd floor, Conference RoomLight emission is a
very basic feature of plasmas, and its spectral composition conveys a lot of
information about the various excitation channels and excited level
populations of the gas atoms / molecules of the system. The latter, in turn,
depend on the electron density and the energy distribution function of the
electrons, and therefore, the prediction of the intensities of a set of
spectral lines necessitates a precise calculation of these quantities via
plasma simulation methods. Taking as an example a low-temperature
low-ionization-degree argon plasma, excited by a radiofrequency voltage, it
will be shown how the plasma properties and spectral line intensities can be
calculated self-consistently. This is accomplished by coupling a
particle-in-cell / Monte Carlo collision plasma simulation with a collisional
radiative model that includes computation of the spatial density distribution
of numerous argon excited levels, electron impact excitation and
de-excitation collisions between these levels, radiative transitions between
the excited levels as well as between the excited levels and the ground
state, quenching reactions of the excited levels, and various
(electron-impact and heavy-particle) ionization processes. Benchmarking of
computed 'synthetic' spectra and excited atomic level populations with
experimental data will be demonstrated. Minden érdeklődőt szívesen
