Dear All,
I would like to advertise the following opening for a PhD position at
IFW-Dresden (in my group).
Thank you very much in advance for your kind consideration.
Description of the project:
In magnetoelectric (ME) compounds, the spin-orbit and spin-lattice
interactions create a strong coupling between the electric and magnetic
properties. This interaction has enabled the development of
electric-field-driven control over magnetic states, which has high
importance in future electronic and spintronic applications. However, there
is only limited research on the heat transport in multiferroics. In recent
years, there has been a growing interest in understanding the giant thermal
Hall effect in the magnetoelectric Fe2Mo3O8 and uncovering its underlying
microscopic mechanisms. Motivated by this exciting new development in the
study of multiferroics, we plan to extend the research of transport effects
to other multiferroic compounds. Moreover, we anticipate the discovery of
new, more exotic thermal transport phenomena in multiferroics, similar to
the recently found thermal diode effect.
In pursuit of this research, we are inviting one PhD student to join our
research group. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive
training in thermal transport, magnetic, and magnetoelectric measurement
techniques in an exceptionally well-equipped research environment. The
candidate's main responsibilities involve sample preparation for the
experiments as well as the setup and management of the measurements. The
candidate will also participate in the ongoing experimental developments
and take an active role in the daily life of the laboratory. The candidate
will also share their findings through publications in high-impact
scientific journals and presentations at relevant conferences. The
candidate’s work will bring an important contribution to multiferroic
research.
