Michael Trupke, Universitaet Wien:
Quantum Communication with spin centres in crystals

The transmission of quantum information over long distances is seen as a
path towards physically secure encryption, distributed quantum computation,
and spatially large networks of quantum sensors. To achieve these goals,
several requirements need to be fulfilled in order to achieve sufficient
bandwidth and fidelity. Following a short overview, I will discuss the
approach we are pursuing towards these requirements using optically active
spin centres in silicon carbide.
