Dear Colleagues,

We would like to introduce our new PostDoc colleague, Aditya Nath Mishra (Wigner RCP, ALICE) who will present his recent results via an online seminar.

The seminar will be available ONLINE ONLY, and starts at 2 pm on 24 April 2020.

Title:
Resonance (K*(892)0 and 𝜙(1020)) production in minimum bias pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV and particle production mechanism using Pythia MC generator

Abstract:
The production of resonance particles K*(892)0
and φ(1020) in pp collisions at √s= 8 TeV has been analysed using Run-1
data collected by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The event normalized
yields and the transverse momentum spectra at midrapidity in the range
0<pT<20 GeV/c for K*(892)0 and 0.4<pT<16 GeV/c for φ(1020) are
reported. The collision energy dependence of particle spectra,
integrated yields and particle ratios in minimum bias pp collisions are
aslo reported. In pp collisions hardening of the particle spectra is
observed with increasing energy, but at the same time, it is also
observed that the relative particle abundances are independent of the
collision energy. The pT-spectra are compared with the expectations of
different Monte Carlo event generators.

Transverse momentum spectra at high-pT is also studied using the Pythia
MC event generator and tried to find out similarities between pp and A-
A collisions. In addition, the underlying event (UE) in the function of
the multiplicity and the leading-particle transverse momentum show some
interesting behavior.
