We are looking for a  passionate /postdoctoral candidate/ to join***Quantum Electronics group* at the Department of Physics of the *Budapest University of Technology and Economics.*

The aim of the project is to engineer and investigate topological superconductivity in semiconductor nanowire and graphene based nanostructures. Very recently there is a huge excitement in the field about topological phases and special bound states, Majorana and parafermions. Nanowire with strong spin orbit coupling, induced superconducting correlations and in external magnetic fields have been shown to host Majorana bound states. Parafermions, fractional Majorana fermions are expected to appear in double nanowire setup. Topological states can be also formed in graphene connected to superconducting contacts either by inducing spin orbit interactions using the proximity of other 2D materials with large spin orbit coupling, or by using special quantum Hall states of single or twisted bilayer graphene. We will pursue these directions using low frequency transport measurement and microwave measurement techniques. The combination of these two will allow not only to do bias spectroscopy or supercurrent measurements, but reflectometry or on-chip radiation measurements. The final goal of the project is to construct and address Andreev qubits which could be the basic building blocks for topological quantum computation.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a PhD degree in physics. The candidate should have excellent skills in experiments, but should be able to share his knowledge and work in a team. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English are mandatory. Experience in nanofabrication or in low temperature transport measurements or in high frequency measurement techniques is desirable.

TASK

Fabrication of semiconducting nanowire and graphene based devices, and performing low temperature measurements. Involvement in establishing a novel setup for dedicated high frequency measurements. Guiding and working together with PhD and MsC students as a team.
