Hey guys,
I am sending below an
advertisement for a PhD position in the group of a colleague of mine here
in the computational physics group at the
University of Vienna. The subject is the phase behavior of anisotropic
magnetic nanoparticles and the broader context is computational soft matter
physics.
Knowing simulations is not necessarily needed but knowledge in statistical
physics is important.
This colleague is in the last minutes to find a suitable candidate. The
group is pretty cool here and the environment is very student friendly with
a boss pretty much dedicated to research and supervising students.
I know most of you work in very different fields, but I would be really
grateful if you could forward this advertisement to any possible candidates
who you think could be interested.
If you know anyone interested he or she should contact Sofia immediately as
she has to choose her candidate very soon.
In case you or a candidate have any questions don't hesitate to contact me
or directly Sofia.
Thank you
Best regards
Gyorgy

Dear Gyorgy, thanks in advance!

Project:
Magnetic dipolar colloids: anisotropy and anisometry
We focus on colloids with a magnetic core and nonmagnetic soft shell. The
behaviour of these particles can be effectively controlled by an applied
magnetic field, and we will harness this to investigate the dynamic
magnetic response of the hematite ellipsoids, maghemite ellipsoids,
magnetically capped colloids and magnetic Janus particles. After
understanding the dynamic magnetic response, the rheology of these systems
will be addressed. The project will be executed in close collaboration with
University of Rome, University of Edinburgh and with the ‘Self-associating
hybrid polymers under shear’ project.
