Job Description
The first civilian large-scale research facility based on high-power lasers,
the European Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI), is to be constructed with
international cooperation at three locations (Prague, CZ; Magurele, RO; and
Szeged, H) with a coordinated management and research strategy. The
Attosecond Light Pulse Source (ALPS) research centre to be built in Szeged,
Hungary will be operated as a user facility for studying of electron dynamics
on the femto-, attosecond scale in atoms, molecules, plasmas and biological
samples.
ELI-ALPS is seeking Electrical Engineers to join the Scientific Engineering
Division. The primary mission of the newly built and rapidly growing division
is to provide engineering support for the experimental research activities
including instrumentation, safety, mechanical, electrical and software
engineering aspects. Optical and target preparation laboratories as well as
mechanical and electronics workshops will also be built to support the
implementation and operation of the facility.
This work requires experiences on the fields of electronic circuit design and
testing, instrument automation, PLC system design and FPGA programming, VME
and MicroTCA based system development, machine protection and personal safety
system implementations.
The selected candidate must be prepared for frequently traveling and
performing training abroad.
In addition, the ideal candidate will be responsible for building up a
dedicated team on the given field by helping new employees and trainees.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Electrical or
Computer Engineering or be able to demonstrate the equivalent professional
experience. (S)he should have a minimum of three years experiences working in
scientific engineering domain, and especially, have experience with fieldbus
systems, and simulation tools. Previous work experience in large experimental
physics institutes is desirable but not essential.
Advanced skills in automation design are essential including the use embedded
systems and modular I/O boards. Demonstrated experience using pSpice, Tina,
or any other related tool is advantageous.
The ideal candidate showing self-motivation and independent problem solving
skills will be expected to work in team, closely interact with other research
and technical divisions in-house, cooperate with product vendors, and
collaborate with teams of international scientists. This position requires
working within production deadlines. Excellent English language,
communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.

conditions, like high pressure, cryo cooling, etc.

dedicated team on the given field by helping new employees and trainees.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Mechanical
Engineering or be able to demonstrate the equivalent professional experience.
(S)he should have a minimum of three years experiences working in scientific
engineering domain, and especially, have experience in robotics and vacuum
applications. Previous work experience in large experimental physics
institutes is desirable but not essential.
Advanced skills in CAD applications are essential including AutoCAD and
SolidWorks. Demonstrated experience in relation with manufacturing is
advantageous.
The ideal candidate showing self-motivation and independent problem solving
skills will be expected to work in team, closely interact with other research
and technical divisions in-house, cooperate with product vendors, and
collaborate with teams of international scientists. This position requires

and electronics workshops will also be built to support the implementation
and operation of the facility. The selected candidate will assume the
maintenance and exploitation of the vacuum existing systems and facilities.
The main task expected from the successful applicant is design the beam
transport system vacuum components. (S)he should produce technical
specifications, drawings and costs estimations. This work requires
experiences in production follow-up, installation and commissioning of vacuum
systems and components. The ideal candidate shall write and/or review
installation, maintenance, coordination procedures; contribute to the
organization and scheduling of the preventive, predictive and corrective
maintenance of vacuum facilities. (S)he should cooperate with other technical
teams to meet the expected goals of the working team, this includes
collection of information, reporting and coordination. Follow-up and
documentation on activities during the installation, commissioning,
maintenance, etc. is an important task of the candidate.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
University degree in mechanical engineering, material engineer, engineering
physicist, physicist, or equivalent.
Experience and knowledge:
The successful candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in
high vacuum technologies and applications. Proven record of projects related
to production of technical specifications and/or high vacuum technologies is
desirable. (S)he should have more than five years of operational and
maintenance experience, preferably on similar positions in industrial plants
and/or research institutions. Advanced skills in CAD applications, mechanical
design and vacuum specific software applications are prerequisite.
Experiences in instrumentation, machinery or robotics are essential. The
ideal candidate showing self-motivation and independent problem solving
skills will be expected to work in team, closely interact with other research
and technical
divisions in-house, cooperate with product vendors, and collaborate with
teams of international scientists. This position requires working within
production deadlines. Excellent English language, communication and
interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
