   "Application of MISR observations in earth remote sensing
        The case of atmospheric von Kármán vortices"


The Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) has been operating 
aboard NASA's Terra satellite for more than a decade. Unlike 
traditional single-view sensors, MISR measures reflected sunlight in 
nine separate directions within a seven-minute interval. This 
near-simultaneous multi-stereo dataset allows retrieval of certain 
geophysical parameters of the reflecting surface (clouds, aerosol 
layers, land/vegetation, ice sheets, or the ocean). This talk 
presents a technical overview of the instrument and demonstrates its 
use in earth remote sensing with emphasis on cloud studies, 
including analysis of the fine structure of Kármán vortex street 
flows.
