Dear colleagues,

we have a postdoctoral position available at Wuppertal University with
the opportunity to work on neutrinos within the KATRIN experiment. The
deadline for application is December 14.

See the announcement below or here:

Postdoctoral position in Neutrino physics

The astroparticle physics group of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal
announces the opening of a postdoctoral position for the KATRIN
experiment available immediately.

The Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino (KATRIN) experiment will measure the
absolute mass scale of neutrinos with an unprecedented sensitivity by
high-precision spectroscopy close to the tritium β-decay endpoint.

The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in the
analysis of KATRIN data. The candidate will also contribute to the
hardware responsibility of our group which is the development of a
detector system to monitor the flux of β-electrons inside the beamline.
The setup will be operated in strong magnetic fields under ultra-high
vacuum conditions. Commissioning of the KATRIN experiment will be
another task.

Further major activities of our group are neutrino astronomy within the
IceCube experiment, cosmic rays and searches for physics beyond the
standard model as well as novel detection methods at ultra high energies.

Applicants must have a PhD or an equivalent degree at the time of
recruitment. The successful candidate preferably has experience in
experimental astroparticle, particle or nuclear physics. Experience in
particle detection at low energies, UHV or data analysis would be an
advantage.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with public service organizations
in Germany (E 13 TV-L). The initial appointment will be for 2 years with
the option of extension. Bergische Universität Wuppertal (BUW) is an
equal opportunity employer. The goal is to enhance the percentage of
women where they are underrepresented. Women, therefore, are especially
encouraged to apply. The BUW is committed to employing more handicapped
people. Applications of handicapped people are particularly welcome.

Applicants should send their documents (CV, short statement of research
interests, list of publications/presentations, at least 2 references,
etc.) before December 14, 2012 by email or in writing to the following
address:

New SO(IFT) Postdoctoral positions

The Institute for Theoretical Physics IFT CSIC-UAM announces the opening of

SEVERAL postdoctoral positions with contracts starting October 2013 and

ranging from 2 to 2+2 years.

These positions are funded under the Severo Ochoa (SO) Program for

Scientific Excellence, a distinction recently awarded to the IFT.

Interested candidates with scientific expertise in the areas of particle

phenomenology, astroparticle physics, gravitation and cosmology, lattice and

quantum field theory, string theory, and quantum information theory, should

file an application before December 15, 2012 using the web form at

http://www.ift.uam-csic.es/es/jcierva

which requires the upload of a CV and the provision of the e-mails of three
