Invitation for Seminar
New Materials – Results and Trends
In the engineering praxis frequently are introduced new materials with special properties, application-possibilities. Many institutes, universities, factory laboratories spend a lot of efforts partly to find new materials, partly to find new application-fields for already used materials.
E.g. graphen is one of the most promising new materials: this is the world’s thinnest material, and also one harder than diamond. Both Hungarian and Korean scientists are working – partly together in the joint laboratory – to collect more knowledge, experiences and extend the applications of this material. A seminar could give a forum to exchange their experiences.
The industrial ceramics are used for wide range of applications, advanced composite ceramic and metal matrices have been designed for most modern vehicles, for gas turbine engines, bio ceramics, such as dental implants and synthetic bones, and ceramic is used in watch making for producing watch cases. Ceramics are also more chemically resistant and can be used in wet environments where steel bearings would rust. In some cases, their electricity-insulating properties may also be valuable in bearings.
The two major drawbacks to using ceramics are their significantly higher cost and susceptibility to damage under shock loads.
Both in Hungaryand Koreaare running intensive R&D activities in these fields with remarkable results since many years. On the seminar – which is organized by the Hungarian-Korean Technical Cooperation Center Foundation, sponsored by the Korean Institutes Material Sciences (KIMS) and scientifically supported by the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (HAE) – key scientists from Korea and Hungary will present current achievements from their fields of expertise, and provide a platform for the discussion of future visions for the development of the technology.
We invite you for this event, which is the 37^th joint seminar organized by HKTCC. Former seminars with different technical topics got always high response in the interested scientific society. We hope sincerely you will accept our invitation and you will be able to find time for participation.
Conference language is English.
Participation at the seminar is free of charge upon *registration*. To register please send your message to the following mailbox: *hktcc AT eik.bme.hu <mailto:hktcc AT eik.bme.hu>****before 19^th of November*.
*Without preliminary registration we can not grant your participation. Thanks for your understanding. *
