Subject: Internship opportunity at the IAEA Physics Section

Dear colleague,

The IAEA Physics Section is aiming to create a comprehensive database of accelerator (MV) laboratories. The IAEA is looking for an Intern, who would be able to contribute to this work in Vienna for preferably 4-6 month starting in the near future. The Intern would work with Dr. Aliz Simon at the IAEA Physics Section.

The IAEA has an internship programme: http://www.iaea.org/About/Jobs/internships.html

A PhD student would be an excellent option ( we would offer on opportunity for him/her also to work on IBA data evaluation/paper/thesis while in Vienna), MSc students will be also considered. The database will be hosted in the IAEA website. It is anticipated that the IAEA will develop a website and then individual laboratories would be able to upload their relevant information. The Intern should be able to create the website together with the IAEA IT services. IT knowledge is essential. Knowledge on Physics and IBA is not compulsory but would be preferred. A working (oral and written) knowledge of English is essential.

I am looking for a very motivated person who is able to deliver a high quality work.
Could you please distribute this information among perspective students?
Please find a detailed work description at the end of this e-mail.

Please send an inquiry/application to Aliz Simon, Aliz.Simon AT iaea.org<mailto:Aliz.Simon AT iaea.org> by the end of April, 2012.

Best regards,
Aliz Simon

Work description for the Intern:

1. Design and implement a website in Nucleus for the Accelerator database where individual laboratories can upload their data at a password protected mode, specific subtasks are defined below

1.1 Design an information sheet to be used for the IAEA web-based Accelerator database. The information sheet should include information on the research infrastructure, technical details, ongoing research, results & publication and picture gallery options.
1.2 Communication the information sheet with a few IBA experts. Incorporation of the suggestions, modification and finalization of the information sheet.
1.3 Design a website template for the database in Nucleus and work further to its implementation with IAEA IT in Nucleus. Clarify and discuss the technical requirements for a secure database in Nucleus; including a pass-word protected mode for uploading documents.
1.4 Implement the website together with IAEA IT in Nucleus including its test with a few contacts outside the IAEA
