Kedves Kollégák!

Megkértek, hogy körözzem az alábbi Ph.D. kiírást.

PhD Position Interface Materials

Topic
Fundamental investigation and optimization of interfaces and interface
materials for organic
solar cells.

Background
Organic solar cells based on polymeric semiconductors offer completely new
alternatives for
the conversion of light to energy. Konarka has demonstrated record solar
cell efficiencies on
flexible substrates and is further pushing efficiencies through development
of new
semiconducting polymers. One issue that needs special attention is the
stability of OPV
modules: Degradation of electrodes and active materials, as caused by
ingress of atmospheric
enemies such as water and oxygen, can be retarded through packaging
efforts. However,
certain failure mechanisms are clearly related to an interface degradation
or the degradation
of an interface material such as PEDOT:PSS.
This thesis aims at gaining a clear understanding of the origin of the
interface degradation as
well as exploring potential interface materials for OPV with improved
properties and stabilities
at both the anode and cathode side. The work will be conducted at our R&D
location in
Nuremberg, Germany.

Tasks
• Manufacturing and characterization of organic solar cells and modules
• Device testing with alternative and new interface materials with focus on
solution
processable materials for upscaling / roll-to-roll production compatibility
• Understanding of failure mechanisms under accelerated lifetime testing
conditions
• Characterization of surfaces and interfaces

Profile
The ideal candidate has a degree in chemistry, physics or materials science
with experiences
in organic electronics, solar cell physics or thin film characterization.
Additional skills in surface
characterization techniques and programming are a plus. Excellent
communication skills, team
working and proficiency in MS Office are mandatory.
