Iron-Oxide films grown by MBE

(Iron oxide thin films possess properties that are of importance for
spintronic applications. Their properties range from antiferrimagnetic to ferrimagnetic and half-metalic. In this talk will be presented the growth and properties of half-metalic Fe3O4(111) and antiferromagnetic Fe2O3(0001) grown by MBE on polar MgO(111) substrate. I will show that surface polarity and surface reconstruction of the MgO(111) have significant influence on the structure and therefore of the films properties. The role of the structural defects on the magnetic properties of Fe3O4(111) films will be also discussed.)
