Abstract
The problems of stability analysis, center manifold reduction, and control of systems with time-periodic coefficients and time-delay are addressed. Stability analysis is performed using a numerical algorithm based on the Chebyshev collocation method. The problem of milling stability is discussed and stability charts are shown for several cases, including the case of multiple engaged cutting teeth. Next, the problem of center manifold reduction of nonlinear periodic delayed systems is tackled using the Chebyshev collocation method to form an equivalent high-dimensional nonlinear map. Finally, Chebyshev polynomial expansion is utilized for open-loop optimal control, delayed feedback control, and chaos control of nonlinear periodic delayed systems to periodic trajectories using a combination of feedforward and feedback controllers.
