====================================================================
PhD grant at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, Spain
====================================================================

We offer a grant to develop a PhD thesis on the study of the physical
properties of nanostructures. The aim is to understand the origin at
the atomic scale of different properties, through theoretical calculations
based both in simple models and ab-initio techniques.

The systems under study will be:

- Carbon nanostructures: 2D graphene and 1D nanotubes.
Study of the electronic and mechanical properties, and the effect of
applied external fields.

- Heterostructures formed by diluted magnetic semiconductors and oxides.
Magnetic properties and spin transport.

Qualifications:
===============

Applicants must be graduate in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science.
A good academic record will be positively considered.

To apply, please send a CV to the contact persons below, including the
academic record and, if possible, the research experience and contact
data (name, e-mail and address) of one or two confidential referees.

Any further information can be also requested to the contact persons.

Please notice the short time before the deadline.
