Heiko Herrmann (Technical University of Berlin, Institute for
Theoretical Physics):
Constitutive Theory in Relativity Theory
Abstract:
At the beginning a brief presentation of non-relativistic constitutive
theory will be given. This will be followed by a section on special
relativity theory, including formulation of relativistic balance
equations. Then these balances will be compared to their non-relativistic
counterparts, with special emphasis on the balance of spin.
As a solution for the problems arising with the relativistic balance of
spin, which contains 3 additional basic fields and 9 additional
constitutive functions, the spin axioms will be formulated.
After this the applicability of the (non-relativistic) concepts of
constitutive theory to relativistic problems will be discussed.
