FINAL CALL

for PAPERS, POSTERS and SOFTWARE DEMOS
___________________________________
*********************************************************************

Over the past several years, the Internet Accessible Mathematical
Computation workshop has been a popular satellite event at the ISSAC
conferences. These workshops have featured invited speakers, contributed
papers and posters or software demonstrations. This year's workshop will be
the 5th annual event, held on July 8th as part of the ISSAC 2004 meeting.
The workshop is free to all ISSAC 2004 articipants.

Important Dates
---------------

*Deadline for submitting paper, poster and demo abstracts: May 27, 2004

*Notification of Acceptance: June 1, 2004

*Full-length papers due: June 15, 2004

*IAMC Workshop -- see you in Santander!: July 8, 2004

Submission Guidelines
---------------------

All abstracts are to be sumitted by E-mail to

alena AT orcca.on.ca

The subject line must contain the string "IAMC abstract". Please
ensure your abstract is clearly marked as being for a contributed
paper, poster or software demonstration.

Topics
------

Everyone with an interest in the many aspects of making mathematical
computation or information accessible on the Web/Internet is welcome to
attend. Topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to:

* Remote access to mathematical software over the Internet.

* Encoding of mathematical expressions (including XML, text and binary
encodings) used for E-mail, HTML embedding, digital libraries, computer
algebra systems, and other scientific applications.

* Interoperability between software that create/transform/display
mathematical expressions (e.g. symbolic, numeric, graphics, text-processing
packages)

* Web-based mathematics education.

* Access and interoperability to mathematical knowledge bases.

* Protocols, APIs, URL schemes, metadata, and other mechanisms for system
interoperability, parallel/distributed computing, and standardization.

* Application of IAMC for practical purposes such as scientific publishing
and archiving, distributed problem solving, etc.

Invited speakers
---------------

*Mike Dewar - "Mathematical Software and the Semantic Web"
Numerical Algorithm Group Ltd.
Project Manager Mathematics on the NET, ESPRIT Project

*Patrick Ion - "Standards for Mathematics? The Example of MathML"
Mathematical Reviews, American Mathematical Society
Chair World Wide Web Consortium Math Working Group
Co-Editor MathML Specification

Contributed papers
----------------

Authors are invited to send a one- or two-page abstract by E-mail by May
27, 2004. Submissions will be reviewed based on relevance to the
workshop, originality, and scientific interest. Authors will be
notified by E-mail around June 1, 2004. The full-length paper (in PDF) is
due June 15, 2004.

Electronic proceedings
---------------------

The Workshop proceedings will be published electronically on the Web and
maintained by the Ontario Research Centre for Computer Algebra.

System demonstrations
---------------------

Participants with IAMC-related software they wish to demonstrate, should
submit a one page abstract describing their system and what they wish
to demonstrate by May 27, 2004. Demonstrators are exptected to run their
software on their own computers. Local-area network access and additional
displays may be provided, up on request. Please indicate any specific
requirements in the abstract submitted.

Posters
-------

Participants with work they wish to present in a less formal setting may
submit a one or two page abstract outlining a proposed poster May 27, 2004.

Organization
------------

The Internet Accessible Mathematical Computation 2004 workshop is being
organized by members of the Ontario Research Centre for Computer Algebra:

George Labahn, program committee chair
<glabahn AT scg.math.uwo.ca>

Elena Smirnova,
<alena AT orcca.on.ca>

Stephen Watt, general chair
<watt AT uwo.ca>

Registration
------------

The IAMC Workshop is part of ISSAC 2004 and free for ISSAC registrants
wishing to attend. Participants should register via the ISSAC 2004
conference web site and select the IAMC workshop. While we encourage
individuals to attend all of the ISSAC conference, it is possible to attend
the IAMC workshop only for a registration fee of USD 50.
