A 5 MV Cockcroft-Walton tandem accelerator from HVEE has been recently
installed at the Center for Micro-Analysis of Materials in the Campus of the
University Autonoma of Madrid. It is in operation since September 2002. The
machine is mainly dedicated to ion beam analysis. At this moment two lines
are operative: the standard line supplied by HVEE with the accelerator, and
an external microbeam equipped with quadrupole lenses from
Oxford-Microbeams. In this talk, we report on measurements performed so far
in the standard line which contains a vacuum scattering chamber equipped
with a four axis goniometer. The calibration of the terminal voltage was one
of the first tasks. RBS and ERD measurements using He, Si and Li beams are
now routinely performed. Examples of analysis of samples of different nature
including, SiN, SiON, porous SiO, and porous Al2O3, will be discussed.
