VIII HISPALENSIS INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL
EXOTIC NUCLEAR PHYSICS
Oromana (Seville, Spain) June 9-21, 2003
This Summer School is devoted to present the fundamentals of Nuclear
Physics to young experimental and theoretical scientists. Our nuclear physics
group at University of Seville (Spain) organizes every three years, since
1982, a Summer School on topics related to Nuclear Physics. There have been,
up to now, seven editions in which several specific aspects have been
discussed. In the next one, entitled "Exotic Nuclear Physics", some selected
hot topics in Nuclear Physics will be presented by experienced lecturers.
This Summer School is aimed mainly to young physicists, both theoreticians
and experimentalists, engaged in research work at the predoctoral or
recent postdoctoral level. In addition all the lectures will be collected in
a book that could be used as a reference text of introduction to those Nuclear
Physics topics in Universities and research centers.
Although the lectures will constitute the main part of the School, an active
contribution of the participants is expected with discussions and presentation
of their own works. There will be some time for selected seminars, short
communications or poster sessions.
The objective of the School is to give the attendance the opportunity to
get in close contact with experienced researchers and hear their clear
account of the nowadays state-of-the-art in some hot topics in Nuclear
Physics as well as the main future lines of development.
For that purpose the following speakers have accepted to lecture on the
topics listed:
Prof. Dr. A. Capella (Orsay, France): The quark-gluon plasma:
Non statistical approach,
Prof. Dr. K. Redlich * (Wroclaw, Poland): The quark-gluon plasma:
Statistical approach,
Prof. Dr. K-H. Langanke (Aarhus, Denmark): Nuclear astrophysics,
Prof. Dr. A. Polls (Barcelona, Spain): Equation of state of hypernuclear
matter and neutron stars,
Prof. Dr. A. Mengoni (Bologna, Italy): Neutron physics and the n_TOF
Project,
Prof. Dr. K. Heyde (Gent, Belgium): Physics far off the stability line ,
Prof. Dr. B. Jonson (Göteborg, Sweden): Experiments with radioactive
nuclear beams,
Prof. Dr. I. J. Thompson * (Surrey, UK): Reactions with exotic nuclei,
Prof. Dr. P. Leboeuf (Orsay, France): Exotic dynamical regimes in nuclei,
Prof. Dr. A. Frank (UNAM, México): Supersymmetry in Nuclear Physics.
Prof. Dr. M. Aguilar-Benítez (CIEMAT, Spain): Experiments searching for
antimatter,
* to be confirmed
The organizers have stressed in
the invitation letter to the lecturers the importance of interaction
with young students during the time of the School.
During the 10 working days of the School, 5 one--hour lectures per day of
lectures and seminars are programmed.
The School will be held at "Hotel Oromana"
(http://www.hoteloromana.com/), a set of buildings prepared
for this kind of meetings including a lecture room and several seminar
rooms. Hotel Oromana is located in a quiet place
in the countryside, surrounded by a pine
forest and close to the village Alcal'a de Guadaira, around 15 km
far from Sevilla. Hotel Oromana has 30 double bed rooms and all the
services to make comfortable the stay of the participants.
The hotel will be booked completely for the School so as no
interferences with people with other interests are expected.
Its location and atmosphere are perfect to promote strong interactions
and discussions among the participants.
At the School, a small library with texts related to the topic under
discussion, photocopy machine and several computers with modem
connection to the international network will be available.
The fee is EUROs 900. The fee covers the participation in the School
as well as the 12 days full board and lodging in double room in Hotel Oromana
(from the evening of sunday, June 9th, to the morning of saturday, June
21st, a copy of the proceedings of the school and social events. Due to the
limited number of rooms, participant companions will be admitted (EUROs 800)
only if there are rooms available.
Application forms should reach the following address by April 15, 2003:
