The INSTITUTO DE ASTROFÍSICA DE CANARIAS (IAC), Tenerife (Spain) invites
applications for several Support Astronomer (SA) and Software Support
Postdocs (SSP) in Astrophysics. Research topics at the IAC include
different aspects (theory, observations and instrumentation) in most areas
of astrophysics. Duties: maintenance of telescopic instrumentation and
provide assistance to astronomers (SA); provide assistance to astronomers
with software packages (SSP). Duration: up to three years with an annual
review. Candidates will join one of the IAC's research groups to pursue
independent research, and to devote a fraction of their time (not exceeding
50% in the case of SA, or 30% for SSP) to support tasks associated with the
IAC's research activities and its Observatories (Observatorio del Teide
(OT), on Tenerife, and Observatorio del Roque de Los Muchachos (ORM), on La
Palma). Yearly remuneration: 4,200,804 pesetas (SA) and 3,985,436 pesetas
(SSP). Both salaries subject to about 22% taxes.

Applicants must be PhD recipients in Astrophysics after 1995 and have the
certificate of their doctorate at the moment of signing their contract, to
take place during January 2001 from which date their appointment will also
commence. They should send (BEFORE 9th June 2000) three copies of the
following documentation: Curriculum Vitae, list of publications, a brief
statement of research interests, and two letters of recommendation to be
sent directly from active researchers who are familiar with the candidates'
